40 nations will participate in the IBF Youth World Cup in Helsingborg
A record number of nations will participate in the IBF Youth World Cup in Helsingborg from 17th to 21st of June 2025. Players from 40 nations will take part.
By the registration deadline at the end of March, 35 nations had registered players for the IBF Youth World Cup in Helsingborg. But after that more nations wanted to sign up
and it is clear that 40 nations from around the world will participate in the individual Under 21 Championship in Olympia Bowling in Helsingborg.
– We had a goal of maybe reaching 30 nations and it's fantastic that there will be a full 40 nations. It's also impressive that there are several long-distance nations coming to us. It feels incredibly good, says Patrick Backe from Olympia Bowling.
The last IBF Youth World Cup was held in January 2024 in Lima, Peru. Then 25 nations participated. There will be a good increase in the number of participating nations in Helsingborg.
– The IBF is excited and thrilled that the 2025 IBF Youth World Cup in Helsingborg, Sweden, will host a record number of 40 national federations. This is a huge moment for youth bowling and an example of the sport’s growing global community, says Michael Seymour, CEO for the International Bowling Federation (IBF) and continues:
– We are once again in Helsingborg for this year's event, following the very successful hosting of the 2022 World Youth Championships. Helsingborg is the perfect host city.
Sweden has long been a stronghold for international bowling, and we are confident this event will continue to raise the bar in terms of competition, and athlete experience. To all 40 competing federations and most importantly the hardworking young sportsmen and women, coaches and officials we look forward to seeing you in Helsingborg.
The main organizer of the IBF Youth World Cup is the Swedish Bowling Federation, which in collaboration with the International Bowling Association (IBF) and Olympia Bowling in Helsingborg organizes the championship. Peter Hodor, general secretary of the Swedish Bowling Federation, is looking forward to this summer's championship.
– It is very positive that so many countries want to come to Helsingborg from all parts of the world. It is a proof that the organization of the Under 21 World Cup 2022 was of a very high standard and everything points to the fact that it will be at least as good this time, says Hodor and continues:
– Arranging international championships means a lot for bowling in the region, but also for bowling in the whole country. The fact that our young bowlers get the opportunity to see their role models and experience top-class international bowling at home means that they are
inspired to get there too.
The practical implementation of the Youth World Cup is the responsibility of Olympia Bowling together with the clubs Spader Dam and IS Göta.
– It feels like it's close now and there's a lot to do. It's going to be a lot of fun to gather players from large parts of the world in Helsingborg, says Patrick Backe.
The event also has good support from Helsingborg City through Helsingborg's Convention & Event Bureau.
– It is with great pleasure that we welcome participants from no less than 40 countries to Helsingborg and the World Youth Cup 2025. We will all do our best to ensure that they have a pleasant stay in our beautiful city, says Henrik Gidlund, head of unit for the Helsingborg Convention and Event Bureau.
Single is the only competition distance on the program in the Youth World Cup. Last week it was clear that Maja Engberg and Robin Ilhammar will represent Sweden in the championship.
