35 federations will participate in the IBF Under 21 World Championships in Helsingborg

Last weekend it was clear that 35 federations will participate in the IBF Under 21 World Championships in Helsingborg from 21st to 29th of June 2022.
– It will be a bowling event out of the ordinary, says Patrick Backe from Olympia Bowling.

Last Saturday was the deadline for the national federations to register teams for the IBF Under U21 World Championships. There were many entries on the final stage and in the end 35 nations from around the world had signed up and a total of 220 players will take part in the championship. That there were so many surprised Daniel Rönnbäck who is Championship Sports Manager at the International Bowling Federation.

– It's very good. Considering the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, I did not expect so many federations to sign up. It feels really fun, says Rönnbäck.

Patrick Backe from Olympia Bowling is excited about the Championship.
– We had 30-32 federations as a dream scenario so it feels absolutely fantastic that there will be even more. We have very good support from the City of Helsingborg, the region, the Swedish Bowling Federation and the International Bowling Federation. There will be great atmosphere in the city and a wonderful experience for all players both on and off the bowling alley.

– We are extremely happy and proud of the high number of participating Federations from all over the world, says Henrik Gidlund, Head of unit Helsingborg Convention & Event Bureau.

Pehr Palm CEO at Event in Skåne agree with Gidlund.
– We really missed the international events. It's great that bowling manages to attract 35 nations that can finally meet and compete again.
